A doll is mainly made of stone powder clay, which is a type of clay
made from the powder from a stone.
In the moment of creating, all of the feelings, thoughts, and emotions within me I never realize I had come out of my hands and my fingertips, creating shapes and forms.
I never have a clear image from the beginning.
I don't create with the intention of creating.
I just do.
I like using clay, for I can both add and take away from it as I please.
This doesn't necessarily mean that it is easier to use.
I feel that the softness of the clay accepts my emotions, and channels them into an art piece.
I spend several months making a doll. Even when creating the eyes, there are times where they turn out beautifully on the first try, and other times where it takes several days to finish them.
I never know when I will finish creating a doll.
Yet, as I chase the faint image on the other side of the fog, the moment comes.
There is a moment when I realize.
What is in front of me is no longer just a block of clay.
---to add on
I like thing that are old or allow me to sense time. Perhaps it is
because I can feel the history or narrative.
It is called "aging" to purposely give objects such as furniture anold, rustic look,
but I am using a slightly different technique.
Tea leaves, rust on nails, fire, ashes, rain water, and sunlight.
When these are added together, an accidental blurriness or shadow creates the uniqueness of the doll.
The doll that has been born will be irreplaceable, giving off an aura unique to the doll.
It will be as if the doll already has it's own personality.
No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to create the same doll again.
To me, each art piece is once in a lifetime.
A doll always has only one facial expression, but according to who sees it, and according the time and emotional state, the facial expression of the doll mysteriously changes.
When you are sad, the doll looks worried. When you are happy,
the doll will happily be by your side.
If you feel a connection when you see this doll,
please cherish the encounter.
